Hi. My name is David McElrea. I completed my Artizo internship at St. John’s Richmond in 2009 and, more recently, my M.Div in Anglican Studies at Regent College. Looking back over my time with Artizo, I am reminded again and again of the faithful attention that Eric Thurston, David Short, my own mentor, Sean Love, and others devoted to us. They desired for us to be fully equipped for service and, based on that desire, they gave of themselves, richly and purposefully. The beauty of Artizo is that it doesn’t just rely on a class-room setting; it places the interns in real ministry contexts, and provides them with the feedback they need to grow and develop as ministers of the gospel. Artizo provides something that Anglicanism in North America desperately needs—a “next generation” of ministers who are eager to see God glorified and to see the people of God built up into maturity in Christ. Please pray for the Artizo Institute as it seeks to build strong gospel foundations for future Anglican ministry. Pray that the interns will continue to grow in the grace of God. Pray also that God will open the right doors for those who are completing, or have completed, their internships so that they might go on to fruitful and effective ministry within an Anglican context. Lastly, pray that God will bless those in the ministry who have given so much to the interns. |

David McElrea's biography |
David is from the Vancouver area and was nurtured in the Christian faith from the time he was an infant. His father led the work of the Union Gospel Mission, in Vancouver, for thirty years. David served in overseas missions from 1994-2006, where he was involved with church-planting initiatives, the development of discipleship resources, and the training and oversight of other missionaries. During this time he met his wife, Kjersti, who comes from Bergen, Norway. David and Kjersti have two children—Aidan and Emma—both of whom were born in the U.K. In August, 2006, David began pursuing an M.Div in Anglican Studies at Regent College, with an eye to Anglican ordination. He and his wife currently attend St John’s Richmond, a growing church-plant that is under the auspices of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC). During the last ANiC “Discernment Weekend,” David was recommended for ordination to the priesthood. He and his family are now seeking to discern God’s will as to where, in Canada, they should serve.. | |
