Training centres

The Artizo program runs in various locations. Training centres benefit from the teaching and preaching of Artizo interns. As more churches sign-up to be training centres, congregations thrive and more young leaders are equipped to preach God's Word. We encourage each congregation to consider supporting at least one Artizo intern.

Before committing, congregations can experience Artizo interns in the summer months as a trial by sponsoring the new Artizo Summer Preachers Program. The program provides one or two Artizo interns who will stay for one month to preach on Sundays, teach the youth group, teach the Bible Took Kit to Bible study groups and group leaders. Please contact Eric Thurston for more details.

Here are the ministries that are available for training at each location:

St. John's Shaughnessy Church, Vancouver:

Preaching, lecturing, Sunday school, kid's camps, mens' ministry, women's ministry, university ministry, Discovering Christ, Christianity Explored, small group leadership, 1:1 discipleship, leading services.

Interns at this location receive weekly preaching apprenticeship with Canon David Short and 1:1 mentorship with Rev Eric Thurston. They also receive training from leaders of the specific ministries they are involved in, and have access to Canon J. I. Packer from time-to-time.

Church of Good Shepherd, Vancouver:

Preaching, adult training, leading services, young marrieds ministry, 1:1 discipleship.

Interns at this location receive weekly 1:1 mentorship with Rev Stephen Leung, and Rev Eric Thurston.

St. Johns Richmond Church, Richmond:

Artizo for trainers

"The training made me a reader, a learner and an observer of the text. I got to watch. Watching David Short engage with the text was very helpful. Particularly, being able to watch him be a learner. I saw that being immersed in the Word is the engine room for ministry."
Rev. Jim Salladin

The Artizo Institute trains able, faithful, innovative and confident gospel ministers to know and understand the Bible, lead effectively, proclaim the gospel, and be able to train others to do the same. Artizo prepares young leaders for full-time ministry by allowing them to serve the body of Christ in their local church with experienced gospel ministers as mentors.
"Maturity in Christ, and usefulness for Christ are the gains that the Artizo program offers to Christian young men and women. I am enthusiatic about this program. Already, I can see Artizo alumni standing out as leaders."

Canon Dr. James I. Packer
Director of Anglican Studies Program at Regent College
