A Letter from Phill Pearson
Hello Friends,
I am so excited to be joining the Artizo Institute as the Assistant Director of Training. In this role, I’ll be serving as a coach, mentor, and trainer – working alongside Ben on Thursdays to train apprentices, while also supporting administration and helping to develop Artizo’s curriculum throughout the week. I hope to contribute to the training of our incredible apprentices locally while working to multiply Artizo’s impact beyond British Columbia.
Over the past three years, I have served as the Ministry Director at St. Peter’s Fireside, where I helped lead the church through several significant transitions. During this time, I oversaw preaching, teaching, pastoral care, children’s ministry, hiring of a new Rector and staff team and the training of several Artizo apprentices. I also went through discernment to ordained ministry and was ordained in June of 2025, transitional diaconate.
These experiences have shaped me deeply as both a leader and pastor and reinforced my conviction that the future of the Church depends on raising up excellent, gospel-centered leaders. This is exactly what Artizo exists to do – training and equipping men and women to faithfully proclaim the gospel wherever God calls them.
At St. Peter’s, I have witnessed the fruit of Artizo’s vision firsthand while training four apprentices over the last two years. I’ve seen how Artizo’s theological depth and intentional feedback process have shaped them into stronger teachers and preachers. It has been a joy to serve as the primary trainer in our church, and I’m thrilled to contribute more broadly as Assistant Director of Training.
As we begin a new year with six new apprentices, my excitement for the vision has only grown. I am looking forward to leading weekly training sessions, providing individual coaching and support, and working alongside Ben to develop and refine Artizo’s curriculum. I look forward to helping strengthen the program in ways that make it scalable and replicable in churches and cities across Canada, as Artizo seeks to be a greater blessing to the diocese and the wider Church.
I also look forward to getting to know you, Artizo’s supporters and alumni, over the next months. Please feel free to reach out to me directly, and I hope to see many of you at Artizo’s Meet the Apprentices’ event on November 17.
Grace and peace,
Phill Pearson
